Got my mum a bunch of flowers. Kids came over and cooked their mum (and me) dinner. Good day.

She gor hand made kids from the kids -plus a commercial card with a picture of a baby with a thought bubble with the caption "hmmm - mum looks a bit stressed - what can I do to push her over the edge?". Those with children will know this is not funny and is the reality.

The International Rescue Committee's From Harm to Home program offers a way to donate much-needed goods and services to mothers across the globe. Choose a lifesaving gift from their website—like the Safe Birthing Kit ($24) or Farming Tools ($60)—and dedicate it to your mom, or any other special woman in your life. Harm to Home will even send a Mother's Day card with information about the dedication on your behalf. Bonus: Your gift amount will be matched dollar for dollar up to $25,000 to support the IRC's maternal health programs in Sierra Leone.

Is Mother's day getting a bit commercialised? It seems to be getting harder every year to treat it like any other day without feeling guilty.

The haul:
tulips (the floral variety - although I did smirk)
selection of real ale
choccies
kindle book (The Lady in the Van - recommended by someone here - sorry, can't remember who!)
Cooked Sunday dinner for family and my mum. Enjoyed a glass or 3 of wine.
All in all, a good day.
