This is not the 'police' as such but the back office activities that are needed to support the police.

Cast your mind back to the prison service, some of these activities and now run by private companies, they even now run some prisons. These have been successful, despite attempts to say that private companies have no place in public service.

I am a great believer of using private sector companies in most fields of government.

Take the NHS, I fully support that the government should be responsible for providing health care for its citizens, however I see no reason why the government should also have to supply this care - why not use private companies if they can do it more efficiently and save money.

A huge chunk of Council Tax goes on the police plus I pay another big chunk to the police by way of a commercial property surcharge. In return the police will send three cars to Tesco for a shop lifter but the police couldn’t care less when I call 999 when a neighbour was being beaten by thugs in her shop.

Many people in England realise that you have to pay for what you want and that you cannot borrow for ever or sponge from someone else.

I read that the public sector now take up 55% of the scottish economy, that is unsustainable but again the SNP etc have not spoken the truth yet, they seem to think that the answer is oil.

As long as these companies are registered with and monitored by the police then why not. The ultimate responsibility for their behaviour has to remain with the police and so they remain answerable.
There would need to be checks and possibly punitive punishments for wrong doing to keep em honest.
Some parts of policing are already done by "civilians". Specialised jobs like scenes of crime are better done by experts and there are plenty of private detectives who can do interviews and evidence collection.

Power of arrest must remain with a Police officer due to the legal nature of such an act. Citizens arrest is fine, but formal arrest and charge needs to be official.

This is what fooks me off about politicians.

Subsequent governments have pushed for greater investment in IT, national computers and my personal point of concern The NDNAD.

NDNAD the greatest source of information for abuse and the next step is to start having private businesses partnering then police force and opening up access to all these systems. Sickening.
