    Fair enough. but their sense of entitlement is their own problem whereas in the public sector it becomes everyone else's problem

    True but I've also found it true of many employees in big corporations. Not as much these days as jobs-for-life disappears from the private sector.

    DA is right though in my previous life as a Civil Serpent I saw this attitude displayed by the majority of the people I worked with and in some ways I myself displayed some of these characteristics till I saw the light and decided I didn't want to be like them.

    They don't give the remotest flying tulip about what the rest of the world thinks, because they don't believe that their livelihoods depend on it.

    Private sector outfits need to sell their stuff abroad, get investment from abroad, or derive their business from companies that do.

    That (largely) doesn't apply to the public sector - never mind the fact that it's private sector taxes that fund the public sector.

    Call their bluff. They won't get what they want - other than to appear as complete and utter twunts
