This is because some smart-arsed business analyst somewhere did the calcs and told them this is still a good profit centre and advised them not to give it away for free when they can charge £2 a shot for them.Originally posted by Kanye View PostWhat annoys me is how you can't go in and download an old statement if you once received it on a paper statement.
Would that be so hard just to let me download old statements in electronic form?

Long ago on CUK I posted asking for an alternative to the high street banks in Britain, somewhere nice and safe and boring to store my money. I experimented a bit, but never really found anything other than Cater Allen. These days, I use German bank accounts (which have a different set of problems).Originally posted by Arturo Bassick View PostNo, I meant the high street banks.
Anyway you will sometimes hear it said that the problems with the financial sector are with investment banking, not retail banking. I believe that there has been a fall in standards across the whole spectrum, and everyone down to the lowliest clerk has been corrupted to some degree.

Not saying that I like Cater Allen, just that I have been with them five years without them trying to screw me in any really egregious way. With Barclays on the other hand, it was just like wtf every other day.

From my observations HSBC seem to be one of the less irritating banks. Barclays and Natwest the worstOriginally posted by Arturo Bassick View PostThey are all as worserer as one another. It is just that when you change you reset your "pissed off" meter.
I've been with HSBC for 15 years now for both personal and business banking without any issues. My anecdotal evidence on the other banks is based on friends and colleagues gripes with them.

Yes, and I've had to make a couple of phone calls to get them to reset stuff.
It's pants.

Barclays Online Banking
Does anyone else use this ?
I have been trying all day to view recent account transactions on the "new and improved" site. I have logged out and in (a tedious process in itself) several times without any difference.Tags: None
