Dell everytime if your going windows, seen to many lenovo fail for my liking, there covered in to much lenovo software, they might be ok for single use but in a corporate environment there a pain in the ar5e they have a strange partition setup with the boot sector spread across multiple partitions that causes all sorts of problems when imaging

My new thinkpad will have 32GB. Should be good for at least the next two versions

Which is why I'd recommend the Dell. The 2 hard drive configuration means you can have your OS on the mini PCI card and the VMs on the regular drive. A 3rd drive means even less contention

I got a quote of around £2200 for that kind of spec (Intel i7/16G RAM/256G SSD HD) from pcspecialist..
Haven't made up my mind yet.
Not had a laptop from them, but my current desktop machine is from there, and I'm very pleased with it.

The main reason I've gone for the 512GB SSD is because it's the cheapest per GB and I've already outgrown two smaller ones. I'm hoping this one will last me a bit longer.

    Dell Precision
    M4600 Advanced

    128gb mini pci hard drive
320GB regular hard drive (upgradable later)
Third hard drive can be fitted in the optical drive bay
    8gb ram @ 1600MHz (upgradable later)
    Quad core 2.5GHz Intel i7
    15.6" 1900x1080 screen

3 year on site warranty and accidental damage cover - I've used this a few times over the past 4+ years and they never argue about replacements

Built in 3G is available but I'd recommend a 3 mifi over that as you can then connect other devices to it. Plus reception should be better on the mifi

Yes, I'm very fond of my current one, I'm only looking to replace it cos I can't fit any more RAM in.
