VW Beetle was easy, just lift up the back seat. Took a long long time to find if you didn't know that, though.Originally posted by Peoplesoft bloke View PostThose of you nasty enough to have a BMW may like to know that some of them have jump start points under the bonnet where the battery is in the boot and therefore harder to reach.

It would depend on the age, the earlier ones came with smaller engines. Ours was 948cc IIRC. I still have the Haynes manual somewhere.Originally posted by wobbegong View PostOi! It was 1098cc of throbbing, grunting power! Sort of.
Granted though, a 2.6 would've posed more of a challenge.

I remember staying at a B&B once where the owner was telling me about his brand new Saab that had just burned down. He'd put his golf clubs in the boot, and according to the insurance company (who were refusing to pay), the metal clubs shorted out the battery and that caused the fire.Originally posted by Peoplesoft bloke View PostThose of you nasty enough to have a BMW may like to know that some of them have jump start points under the bonnet where the battery is in the boot and therefore harder to reach.

Oi! It was 1098cc of throbbing, grunting power! Sort of.Originally posted by zeitghostIt was ok with a low compression 848cc engine like the Minor had.
It wasn't so funny with a 2.6L 6 cylinder engine like the Rover P4 had.
Especially if the barsteward kicked back.
The Rover manual showed the "keep your thumb in the right place on the starting handle" picture to avoid hospital appointments.
Granted though, a 2.6 would've posed more of a challenge.

My neighbour is a Nissan Mechanic and he lent me his battery pack to start my motorbike once and told me to link it to the frame not the terminal due to potential issues with the electronic ignition unit getting blown.
Where there's smoke there's fire.

Leave me out of this one dude. Being a proper blokey bloke I know how to jump start a car, and even have a few engine rebuilds I have done by hand over the years.Originally posted by fullyautomatix View PostActually I will post a picture, that makes sense. Sorry for the SuitYouisque nature of the thread.
Brillo, Red before black I think is the way to do it, according to manual.
This car is before 2005 so can be jump started, its the post 2005 that cannot be jump started.

Weird is going to Kings Cross and getting a lady to cover you in whipped cream, put a light bulb where the sun does not shine and then beating you with a salami. Of course that is not me - its my friend. Honest.....Originally posted by Troll View PostIn it... never on it - that would be tooooo weird!!
