    Just to add to the comments about driving in Russia...

    A guy I know who's been travelling there on business since the late eighties told me that essentially there were no worthwhile roads connecting major cities. (I think no motorways, single lane in each direction.)

    I don't know how recent his knowledge was, but another car-related anecdote was that a "service station" consists of a tanker parking on a street corner, and a queue of motorists forming to get fuel.

    How about driving the Pan-Ameican Highway?

    Unless you have a pothole detector, that can look though snow....

    Honestly, some of them will rip your suspension off and you can't see em when they are filled with snow....

    And the coppers will stop you and fine you for something every five minutes...
