Porridge is okay, I usually put a layer of sugar on top, and when that is exhausted, put down another layer, and sometimes a third. Nice. Don't fancy olives with porridge. Olives in brine are nice on their own though. However, porridge makes a terrible mess of the saucepan, which even soaking doesn't loosen, and when the day finally arrives when you have no choice but to clean the saucepan (next day usually), it clogs up the scourer and the plug hole, so it's a big job. And that's why I don't have porridge very often. Can be eaten cold without cooking, but it's not as nice.
It actually microwaves quite well, I find. Although it makes a mess of the jug too

If you cook it in the microwave then it’s a lot easier to clean: just keep an eye on it or you will be cleaning the microwave too
