In a bowl of turds that is current TV programming I don't think Spooks was a floater. It's now sunk without trace.
-
I assume Harry got him in to take out the Elena's ally in Russia although that doesn't quite tie in with the crisis of conscience that caused him to leave MI5 in the first place. Harry would probably have felt a bit guilty about asking Dimitri or the others to break even more laws for him. How they stayed out of prison, never mind kept their jobs, I'll never know.

Apparently he came back for a couple of episodes at the start of the 3rd season. I don't remember any of that so I must have missed at least a few episodes, possibly even a whole seasonOriginally posted by zeitghostDidn't he come back after that, then disappear again?
Or was that someone else?
It appears that he departed at the end of series 2. In 2003.
Doesn't life go quickly when you're enjoying yourself?

BBC - Spooks - Tom Quinn Character InfoOriginally posted by OwlHoot View PostTom - Last seen (some years ago) as I recall wading into the sea, after lamping Harry.
I guess that scene was a hint of retribution against the Russian guy who organised the whole plot.
Tom was serious, focussed and popular with the team he leads. Deeply intelligent and with impeccable instincts, Tom's job was everything to him and always came first. While this made him an excellent Spook, it didn't make him such a perfect boyfriend, as his girlfriend Ellie quickly found out in series 2. If he wasn't out on missions that put his own life in danger, he was back home, putting his family at risk.
Tom's loyalties were called into question when he tried to convince Harry, Zoe and Danny he'd been set-up in an assassination plot. Unable to persuade any of the team of his innocence, Tom felt cornered as Harry threatened to call in back-up. He shot Harry and ran.
Tom eventually managed to prove his innocence. He was exonerated of any wrong-doing and returned to the Service. However, it wasn't to be for long. Tom's moral questioning of his job caused a massive crisis of confidence. He jeopardised an important mission and Harry was forced to de-commission Tom from MI5. His career is now over and he is no longer a Spook.

According to Wikipedia:
Tom Quinn (Matthew Macfadyen; 2002–2004; 2011) Chief of Section and Senior Case Officer, Section D. Decommissioned after jeopardising a key mission and took early retirement. Became a private contractor after leaving MI5.

Can't remember what happened to him it's so long ago. Are we to assume he's now working for MI6 or some other outsourceable organisation?

A little bit predictable, though they managed to add a twist to the 'bomb of the week'.
Good to see the CIA and MI5 field operatives are still thick as pig tulip, when two of their three vehicles gets immobilised or someone nearby may have a motive for killing someone else nearby.

Wouldn't mind seeing a spin off with the early members that survived setting up their own spy unit for 'black bag' operations.

What a shame the young Russian guy wasn't called AndyWski - It would have been the one time ever that the AndyW option in a CUK poll was the correct answer.

Not a bad ending though I'd guessed the borg woman was up to no good, they've definitely left it open ended for when the BBC have the purse strings loosened.

Crikey. So it was the least likely option. Well maybe there will be a Series 11 after all.
I wasn't expecting poor Ruth to cop it. But then I should have remembered that being a female staffer (or a female full stop, Russian or British) in Spooks is more dangerous than going over the top at the Somme.
