You talk as if an economy could ever have been "saved" while its banks are going to the wall.

Just to get things in prespective here. They´re not worried about the Euro, they´re worried about banks who hold bonds that will become worthless. If the Euro breaks up those bonds will not just get a bad "haircut" (like the one the silly dolly bird at the hairdressers gave me (bring back the Barber)), they´ll become completely worthless.
No the Euro will not break up because it´ll guarantee financial collapse. At the moment the Germans are pushing for a managed default of Greek bonds, but if push comes to shove, i.e. it´s clear the global financial markets will go into melt down, they´ll go for plan B, which is Eurobonds, problem solved. Once you have Eurobonds, Europe is 3rd behind the US and UK for financial instability,because their combined finances are in a lot better shape. Of course this costs the Germans so they´re dragging their heels at the moment.

Or are we so tied to the banks...because that's all our economies now consist to...funny money. So much so that the central banks have been printing money, simply to help out the banks, screwing the average Joe on the streets.
