Interview in Dublin many years ago and was a bit short but had to pay my way. Agency said they'd cover the expenses regardless of how the interview went so get a taxi at the airport to interview, wait, bring me back to agency for follow up and payment of said expenses, wait, take me back to the airport.

Needless to say the agent was 'out for lunch', no expenses paid, no feckin spare cash and had to explain all this to the taxi driver waiting outside the office. He took me to the airport, waived his meter fee and gave me £20 Sterling to get my car out of the car park at the other side.

I got his address and sent over what I owed him plus 20%.

Monarch Recruitment are a total bunch of chancers. Two months later back in Dublin on a proper rate that extended for a year.

Dublin taxi drivers the best and most entertaining I've ever come across in Europe, never laughed so much at the banter.

2007, flew out to Berlin to meet on a visit the current mrs stek (common law mrs) who was doing her German stuff there, on way back she suddenly says;

"stek, can you take back this absolute shedload of German books on the plane as I have no clue about weights or baggage allowances and their ilk as I am a simple woman"

So, after dicking around waiting for a bus to ICC Messe Nord for the S-Bahn to Schönefeld, on every corner of the junction cos she forgot the way and forgot which side of the road the bus stopped on, and me thinking these bags are rather heavy....

Got the Schönefeld, Jet2, not the most tolerant of airlines, noted the extreme overweight and waived it as the place was not very full! Nice! Think we had 43 kilos of extra books....

So I celebrated on the plane with a couple of Jet2's extremely small but extremely expensive Stella's I think they were 250ml tins at six euro a pop.

Getting phone call from liquidator of block of flats I live in and quoting reasonable price...

I was on my way to an interview for a software role in solihull once in about 2000-ish and had a blow out on the M6 on my way there. I called up the transport police on the roadside telephones (who uses them nowadays) as it transpired I didn't have a jack in the boot (doh).

The nice lady on the other end of the phone arranged for the AA to come out to assist and asked if there was anything else I needed. Actually, I said, I'm on my way to an interview and because of this I'm going to be late, to which she said she could phone them on my behalf. I arrived at the interview slighly late and the interviewer said he had recieved the message and I got the impresion he was impressed by the fact I'd managed to let him know.

I could of course have been bulltulipting about a blow out to cover up being late, but I think the transport cop did a good job of convincing the interviewee.

I worked in a newsagents when I was younger and always did the early shift on a saturday.

At 8am every saturday morning the same old lady came in to get her paper which was ordered in especially for her. She was a nice old dear and she always chatted away to me.

Anyway, one day she said "see you next week" and I replied saying I'm actually off next week as it's my 18th birthday so I'll see you the week after.

So off she went, only to return 20mins later, with a birthday card she'd bought in another shop (our shop sold plenty of cards).

Off she went agaihn, leaving the shop before I could open te card, which contained a crisp new £20 note.

Funny. Back in 1995 I found a wallet on the train with £50 in it and a load of credit cards/id. It didn't take me long to work out where the chap lived, worked, date of birth etc. I copied all of his ID then couriered his wallet/cash/cards to his place of work at great expense. I then copied and stole his identity and have been living off credit cards/loans I have taken out over the years. He's obvious done quite well as I never have a problem taking them out. But one day...
