And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."
Hang on just a minute...
I thought it was all about turning the other cheek, offering forgiveness and stuff....and now we're back on to smiting and vengeance again.
<ah....just noticed something...that's DAD speaking, not JUNIOR>
I had a long chat with a Fundie once, and he explained that basically, JUNIOR is the GOOD COP, and DAD was the BAD COP.
After Adam sinned, DAD went mental and said "That's it, I'm through with humans...I give them the Earth, the Sky, the Birds and the Bees, and Eternal Life and they **** it up. I want nothing more to do with them. <Cue Major Godlike Hissy Fit>
He then explained JUNIOR decided we weren't all THAT bad (even after the nailed to a cross affair) and when he ascended to heaven, he acts as a buffer between Humans and his DAD.
So basically, if you give your soul to JUNIOR, he "hides the stain of human sin", and then presents you to DAD for inspection. DAD gives you the once over, says "Hmmm, oh alright then, in you come", and bob's yer uncle.
Interesting spin I thought.

In addition, God stood by while all these things happened. God is complicit in this mass genocide, he had the power to stop it, but did nothing. God must face trial in the Hague for his war crimes.
Unless he wanted to stop it, but could not. Oops, not omnipotent then.
Perhaps he was neither willing nor able. But then who is this God person anyway?

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

Originally posted by ChicoSasguru - if you really believe that Hitler was a Christian - then you obviously have not been paying attention. Hitler is no more a Christian than you are. A Christian not only believes that Jesus is the Son of God, was risen from the dead but also does what he is commanded by Jesus. Actions complement the words and belief. Jesus has no time for hypocrites - as his words show.
Matthew 7:
A Tree and Its Fruit
15"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
21"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'
"...treasures of the living Christ - the persecution of the true Christians and sanctimonious churches that have placed themselves between God and man and to turn away from the anti-Christian , smug individualism of the past," and "to educate the youth in particular in the spirit of those of Christ's words that we must interpret anew: love one another; be considerate of your fellow man; remember that each of you is not alone a creature of God, but that you are all brothers!"
