Thanks all for the suggestions. Ended up going to the Ship and Shovell with ambitions of moving on to Hawksmoor - maybe had the odd one or two too many at the Ship and only made it as far as the Indian opposite CC station, which was very nice!

If you fancy a good feed and don't mind a traveling a bit more can reccomend the Turkish Ocackbasi (BBQ) places in Stoke Newington.
Couple of personal reccomendations from me are Testi (the name is a clue to one of their 'signature' dishes), and Mangal 1
If you don't want to travel that far, Bodeans is pretty good, as is Yalla Yalla

For food - it depends what you like really. Have been to Wahaca (Mexican, very nice, fast service, reasonably priced, you can't book though), the Thai place round the corner from the Harp (decent service, not bad at all) and Pizza Express (what you might expect, but edible)Originally posted by Cliphead View PostWKS

Especially the Hawksmoor! Best steak I've ever had.
Great ales in the S&S and also the Counting House

As such, anyone got any good recommendations for drinks (including old man's ale) and a half decent place to grab some grub nearby?
Target location is within a couple of tube stops from Covent Garden.
Cheers.
