    Yeah, we bail out a bank (which owns two other banks) because its dickwad director couldn't keep his ego in his pants. Then we allow the bank to pay out massive bonuses to staff. And now we read that some excel workbook pushers are paid ridiculous sums - and we are supposed to be shocked?

    This is just the way Gordo and George wanted it to be. What's good for the banks has got to be good for everyone, innit?

    Of course!
    The quants I know (not at RBS but a very similar bank) do actual 'work' for perhaps 4 hours a day, and spend the rest of the time goofing off. I was once asked by a programme manager to come to one side... where he quietly told me what my 25min social banter with a risk analytics contractor had just cost him... and said he hoped it was very valuable insight we were sharing. 2k in some specialisms is cheap!

    Given the quality of some of the higher paid contractors and consultant I met when last there the country (and company) would be better off if they did post on here.

    I wonder who is going to get the large fine from the Data Registrar.

    I think the two grand might be what Hays is getting, rather than the contractors.
