bosch corded for me as well. sharpen the blade a couple of times a year and it just keeps going.

last one 15 yrs old and took exception to me running it over rough (been concreting on it) ground the motor finally burnt out.

I have a bosch and it's great. I also try that moss killer before I go over, and go over a few times. Couldn't even remember how many bags I filled last time round, but borrowing a trailer next time.

Used seaweed extract on the lawn and it looks spectacular.

Might sound a bit old, but I love a good looking lawn. The Bosch is coming over to France with me so I can give that a going over too. French think the brits are insane about their lawns...

The Rotak 43 looks reasonable.

Maybe I'll give that one a try.

All the cordless mowers have issues with battery life versus size of lawn - workable if you have a postage sized plot but anything larger may need a recharge mid cut or a second battery (edit I see Bosch has addressed this with 2 batteries being included)

I bought one of these and gave it a run out last year - quite good at getting the moss up

I am going to scarify in the next week or so, I picked the wrong year to try and not use chemicals, what with the drenching we have had over the summer the moss has come back in strength.

I got a cheap one from B&Q for 50 quid and has lasted 2 years.

It did sterling service up until the smoke.

Though from the noises it made, the main bearing was well on its way out.

And I had to repair the motor about 3 years ago when a wire broke off.

My flymo didn't even last 2 years. ISTR they have a Brings and Stratton unit these days. Sure that makes the world of difference.

Ever so impressed.

The roller bearing at the drive end of the rake seized and it's eaten its way through the plastic (!) bearing housing so the rake part fouls on another piece of plastic.

Naturally enough, it's cheaper to buy another one than try to fix the existing device.

Are you planning an autumnal scarification?

I was planning one for the day before yesterday, since the sun was out.

I have moss growing on the moss in the lawn.

So I was expecting to get about 15 to 20 bin bags full this time.

But, feck it, maybe I won't bother at all.

Well, it's not been a good week for lawn care.

The fecking lawnmower burned out halfway through mowing the lawn yesterday.

So my lawn is half cut.



And I'd only had the damn thing 10 years. Nothing lasts any more.

My lawn is too big for the cheap £50 mowers.

It'll be another £180 electric one I'm afraid.

Dunno whether to get a Flymo again or to try a Bosch.
