If only the roads were full of designs that creative, road rage just wouldn't happen.
Has anyone ever thought of racing them as entertainment for kids?

I think the original question was what constitutes a dry/wet race - as according to the commentators, yesterday's race was never 'declared' as a wet race.Originally posted by Doggy Styles View PostJust to clarify this, the rule is that in a dry race you have to use a set of primes (hard tyres) and a set of options (softs).
You don't have to use intermediates (or wets) in the dry, in fact you'd be stupid to do so given the reduction in performance and reliability.
So I wonder if just putting a wet/inter on your car for 1 lap means that you don't need to run both dry compounds.

Indeed, it would be suicide to not use an advantage, whether you like it or not.Originally posted by d000hg View PostMaybe they still are. Grudgingly using a rule you don't like - and he didn't seem very comfortable about it - is different from someone else doing it when it's banned, AND getting a token penalty only.

Not sure on the exact wording of the rules, but I think it's based on using 2 different types of tyre - the exception being that using wets/inters throughout is allowed.
I think a driver could use inter's on a bone dry track - and would then only need to use one dry compound. Would be suicidal strategy, but I think it's allowed.

b) lots of blokes
c) the McLaren pit crew
d) Fernando Alonso (a rich Spanish bloke driving a Ferrari)
Tyre - that round rubber-coated thing wot goes on a wheel
KERS - a bit like a kerb except it's a battery and flywheel and is fitted to your car
Button - something to help you keep your trousers up
Schumacher - a euphemism for an accident that wasn't your fault

Fair enough - but last year he gave the impression that both he, and RBR were fundamentally against team orders.Originally posted by d000hg View PostLast year it was illegal. This year it is not, and whatever he personally things about the rules, his job is to play by and use those rules to best advantage. To expect otherwise in professional sport is naive.
If he has changed his mind, perhaps he would care to retract some of the criticism he dished out to Ferarri.

It's that Red Bull have been so adamant over the past few years that team orders are evil - and were calling for Ferrari to be severely punished last year - and were absolutely clear that they thought it was against the spirit of competition, which Red Bull as an overall brand are so proud of.
It was always pretty obvious JB would leave. Brawn had clearly got lucky that year - so firstly McLaren were a safer bet for being near the front and secondly Brawn couldn't pay anything like as much as JB thought a world champion was worth.Originally posted by VectraMan View PostI think Lewis is more likely. It seems unlikely that he'd ever leave McLaren, but then it seemed unlikely Button would ever leave Brawn.
Voluntarily leaving a team like McLaren or Ferrari to go elsewhere is rarely a sensible move because every other team is more erratic in performance. If you join Red Bull, next year they might suck and not have the same resources to fix it.

Hamilton and Vettel would certainly be interesting team mates, and can you imagine the day Christian Horner tries to give either of them team orders?Originally posted by Zippy View PostExactly. Not sure if the Jenson/RB rumour is true but I did see a story on it yesterday.

So that's the reason they decided to let JB out of the pits without a wheel nut. Poor guy could have been killed. He should have a word with the HR dept about health and safety.
Overall a pretty boring race. I can see merit in Bernie's suggestion about having water sprinklers at all tracks to liven them up.
If I was Bernie with his billions I'd go the whole hog and change it into the Wacky Races. :muttley:
