I thought the newest ones sucked mainly due to lack of audience/laugh-track. It took a while to realise, but it screws up the feel.

Good show apart from 7/8, tulip attempt recently to revive it - very very bad script and CGI was totally out of place (it's probably cheaper these days to use CGI).

Series 7 and 8 were rubbish anyway. I can't see that they'll ever hit the highs of series 1-6.
Though if they are going to make it, I'd prefer it to be filmed in front of a live audience again, unlike the pony that got made back in 2009.
Brilliant show though IMO.
