There was some good comedy in a quite British way in the first 6 or so series of Red Dwarf, the recent one wasn't funny.Originally posted by d000hg View PostRed Dwarf was always crap. Bad acting, crap story lines and worse special effects. But it had an endearing charm.

I thought the newest ones sucked mainly due to lack of audience/laugh-track. It took a while to realise, but it screws up the feel.

Good show apart from 7/8, tulip attempt recently to revive it - very very bad script and CGI was totally out of place (it's probably cheaper these days to use CGI).

Series 7 and 8 were rubbish anyway. I can't see that they'll ever hit the highs of series 1-6.
Though if they are going to make it, I'd prefer it to be filmed in front of a live audience again, unlike the pony that got made back in 2009.
Brilliant show though IMO.

Red Dwarf to blast off on new adventure ? The Register

Got to keep on milking it for all it's worth, I suppose, much like the Hitchhiker book franchise.
