I'm the originator of this song. It's from the Friday Rock Show's Friday Night Connection about 30 years ago. You had to identify three pieces of music and the connection between them. The connection was things nautical, so ferret is most likely ferry.
I also think that Alison is the name of a place, not a person, because I think the lyrics contain:
This is Alison my home. Try to describe the beloved pines....
The other two songs were My Friend by The Steve Miller Band from the album Sailor and The White Ship by H.P. Lovecraft. At the end of the three songs, Tommy Vance, the DJ, says: There are two songs in there that you might know if you really remember the Sixties, but there's one song in there that I don't think anybody will know and it's not that old either.
I have a feeling that it might be called Oceans 11 but this is impossible to search because of the film. There must be somebody out there who knows what it is.

One man's got that picture in his head,Originally posted by OwlHoot View PostPost as much of the lyrics as you can make out.
is his Alison (something rival/survival?)
trying to decide if he loves(?) her(?)
and the girl child (something)
Chorus: The wind cries Alison
The wind tries to make him see her (???)
where's that (????) called Alison
(???)
Next verse:
One man's got that picture in his head,
(??)
I was there in Germany
Out in the winter of forty three
Chorus.
Instrumental
Next verse: one man sat there and smiled (??)
sorry I've lost the will to live after listening to it about 20 times
EDIT: Thanks MrRobin, you did a much better job.

Here are the lyrics that I can make out... xxxx is inaudible, 'Ferret' is obviously wrong but I've left it in for comedy value
One man's got that picture in his head
This is Alison xxxx
Try to describe xxxx lovers xxxx
And the cold child standing in the stony building
The wind from Alison now
The wind's trying to make them see out
Where's that ferret from Alison
Can you hear me?
One man's got that picture in his head
I know when the xxxx is too
I was there in Germany
Out in the winter of '42, hear me
The wind from Alison now
The wind's trying to make them see out
Where's that ferret from Alison
Can you hear me?
INSTRUMENTAL
One man is sat there and smiling
Like who d'ya think I am
I'm telling you about the land I love
Don't xxx try to understand
The wind
The wind
Where's that ferret?
Can you hear me now
Yeah yeah yeah
The wind from Alison, now
The wind's trying to make them see out
Where's that ferret from Alison
Can you hear me?

Yes, it's hard to make out, but you're right about the "Germany" line.Originally posted by stek View PostI can hear what sounds like 'the wind from Alison' and 'I was there in Germany 1943" so God knows!
Edit: line is "I was there in germany out in the winter of forty three "
Also I think the opening line is
"One man's got that picture in his head,"
And I think I hear the phrase "dog child" in there, plus the refs to Alison.
You'd think the Germany line would enable it to be found by lyric searches, but the only refs I could find are where the originator of this conundrum (not me) has posted.

Post as much of the lyrics as you can make out.
A lot of us at clientco sites daren't risk blaring out music all of a sudden, especially dodgy '70s music!

Thanks, Dave, but that seems unlikely since Hayes Carll was born in 1976, about the time that this song dates from (or so I'm told it dates from somewhere in the 70's)Originally posted by DaveB View PostCan't verify as the filtering here blocks access to lyric sites but I *think* it's a song by a guy called Carll Hayes called "One Bed, Two Girls, Three Bottles of Wine".
Edit: That should be Hayes Carll, Bloody country singers with their stupid names.

Can't listen to the track here. Can you post the lyrics that you can make out?Originally posted by Platypus View PostHi, can anyone name this tune? Probably from the mid 70's so I'm told.

Shazam doesn't know it, and the few lyrics I can make out, I can't find on lyrics sites.
