As I was passing the local cathedral today, I thought I pop in. Not that I'm religious, I was interested in checking out the thermal inertia of the building, as you never know when info like that might come in handy. Anyway, as I entered I was met by a religious type who was connected with the church, who handed me a leaflet about the joint, so I thought I'd better do a quick tour too, after quickly moving past the transparent collection box filled with notes.
Anyway, and I'm getting to the point, which I hope will be remotely connected to the thread title. As I was looking at all the old stuff, there was a choir or something practising. Drums, symbols, violins, conductor, singers, the lot. Maybe a hundred of them. Anyway, this didn't sound too bad, so as I was getting bored with looking for the oldest gravestone I could find anyway, I sat down to listen. It was pretty good, better than the sound I get from my little earphones. One section even sounded a bit like the theme tune to superman! Anyway I went to a desk that had a variety of leaflets on it, when it became apparent that the music was becoming repetitive. One leaflet was for a concert and I picked it up. Well I don't know if concert is the right word, but close enough.
It's for something called "Holst: The Planets". This sounds pretty good on YouTube. Do you concert goers think it would sound much better for real than on YouTube through my speakers with only one headphone working? And do I need to dress?

Christ are The Levellers really still alive?
Last saw them in Paris 1994.

Takes me back to the early 90s. I'm watching 'There's only one way of life' on YouTube and loving it.
Back then, all of a sudden, everyone became a hippy. A few people I know stayed like that, still got no real job, white mans dreadlocks and smoke up like a chimney. Most people reverted to type in the mid-90's though.
I saw the Wonderstuff back in the day. Their gigs used to go off but to me they were a pantomime act.

I saw a twentieth anniversary reissue of the Eight Legged Groove Machine in a record shop a few months back and bought it immediately without looking closely because my original was on cassette and I haven't played it for twenty years and have no idea where it is now. I took it home and only then discovered that it was a re-recording. Good, but it lacked the atmosphere of the original.
I could remember all the words and was singing along on first listen though.

Just to let anyone know who's interested that the gig was awesome! As expected, I actually preferred the Wonderstuff (the support act) rather than the Levellers, but they were very good too.
Incidentally, on the way out from the ClientCo last night, mentioned I was going to a gig to an ol' tart in the office and told her I was watching the Levellers........she replied "Who? Level 42, I love them" Hmmmm.
By the way, I'm never drinking again...

This is partially why my life is so busy. I have rehearsal at 7:30pm, until 12 - then I have work from 7:30am tomorrow. My wife thinks it's great though......

Hope it's an excellent gig; got some Levellers music on the laptop but not seen them live. Conversely saw the Wonderstuff around 88 or 89 but "The 8 Legged Groove Machine" is on vinyl in the loft.
Look forward to the review.

Likewise, never seen the Levellers live. Always liked them, though never a massive fan...
