As I was passing the local cathedral today, I thought I pop in. Not that I'm religious, I was interested in checking out the thermal inertia of the building, as you never know when info like that might come in handy. Anyway, as I entered I was met by a religious type who was connected with the church, who handed me a leaflet about the joint, so I thought I'd better do a quick tour too, after quickly moving past the transparent collection box filled with notes.

Anyway, and I'm getting to the point, which I hope will be remotely connected to the thread title. As I was looking at all the old stuff, there was a choir or something practising. Drums, symbols, violins, conductor, singers, the lot. Maybe a hundred of them. Anyway, this didn't sound too bad, so as I was getting bored with looking for the oldest gravestone I could find anyway, I sat down to listen. It was pretty good, better than the sound I get from my little earphones. One section even sounded a bit like the theme tune to superman! Anyway I went to a desk that had a variety of leaflets on it, when it became apparent that the music was becoming repetitive. One leaflet was for a concert and I picked it up. Well I don't know if concert is the right word, but close enough.

It's for something called "Holst: The Planets". This sounds pretty good on YouTube. Do you concert goers think it would sound much better for real than on YouTube through my speakers with only one headphone working? And do I need to dress?

First "classical" album I ever bought. Some of it is quite unsettling, which is why I like it I guess.

Yes, you need to dress up: Dickie bow and don't forget your cummerbund

I will feel silly if I'm the only one wearing a cummerbund. I'll turn up at the door and see if the bouncers let me in.
