    If you're worried about noise, I don't understand why you aren't simply having your office built the other side of the kitchen garden, just off the far east wing of the main house? That should be far enough away from the main lawn to be fairly quiet.

    You'll find that open windows in the summer aren't very sound proof either.... unless you're going for an air conditioned solution
