You are looking about £8k to get the licence (F*** me, it's gone up since I did it 20 years ago!!!) but that's not the issue - you need to fly regularly after that to keep your licence valid with a CoE and also it's no fun flying min hours when every sortie feels like a massive pressure trip - it is supposed to be fun and you need to prepare and do it regularly.
One lesson/trial will cost around £150 - if you are serious, do the full package (at a reputable company, do not pay up front to a dodgy one) or better still, goto the USA where it will be cheaper.
It's the best way to spend cash as far as I'm concerned - flying is simply quite spiritual - one of the greatest moments I'll never forget is busting through the clag under IFR and seeing the sun setting on the tops of the clouds - I'll never forget that beautiful orange again - I love it and am busy trying to horde the cash so I can get back into the left hand seat again after the acrimonious divorce.
Anyways, back to this 10K. How's about I write a tune for the missus, specially commissioned and all that. Valentines day is coming up. I'm sure I could do a non-rap tune.
You've already told me you'd do that and give me £500
So people what can I do with this £10.5K I have and this song about a lonely Scottish airplane?
