What you should have done is bought an identical model and colour to your original car and put a second set of plates onto the new car

...but of course that would be illegal

Just checked last year's policy and it's direct through Direct Line as far as I can tell, rather than through a dodgy third party.

Yes, Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec, 2003, ~60,000 miles, Direct Line

Maybe because you are in Birmingham. I admit I am surprised at my quote and even more surprised that it continues to go down. They will be paying me soon

    10% increase on last year.

Though to be fair I had misfortune today to get caught into BCFC ending game and people walked on the road with complete disregard to their own safety. The police closed main road around there and took like 50 mins to get 1 mile to office

Can't think of any reasons why these places should have such high rates attached

    Direct Line if you're wondering.
    One year on...

Jeez, last year's is looking expensive now. Only £177 this year, down £25 or 12%. It's going down every year. I'm not even going to look for another quote again. I'm still with Direct Line.

When I look for insurance I use Quidco. I get about a quid for using Quidco to take me to the price comparison sites. I then use them to find me the best quote and use Quidco to take me directly to the insurers site so that I can earn the cashback on the policy rather than the comparison site getting the refferal fee.

My wife was with Kwik-Fit insurance. Last year they sent their renewal which was about 470 or so. This was a little more than the previous year. She pays monthly and the apr the robbing gets had on her policy was over 50%.

I used GoCompare to find a quote that was about half that cost, from these folks:
Caravan Insurance UK - Static and Touring Caravan Insurance Quotes.

I was disappointed that Direct Line didn't try to retain my business my improving their quotation.
You must have fallen out of or they've changed their target demographic?

For 10 years straight I've found Direct Line to be the cheapest, their renewal never includes the 10% newcomers discount so I just do a new online quote and tell them I'd rather have that.

On the one occasion I found it cheaper on a comparison site the standard excess was astronomical.
