Eventually got an offer and turned them down due to a better offer from my current client.

    Thanks for asking.

Said manager lacks any social skills or even ability to interact with other human beings. Many permies, including some very experienced and competent people, left simply because they hate him. Said manager's boss, the CIO, is even more of a cockhead.
I certainly remember your ex clients remarkable knack for indecision.

Confusing, you'd think they'd get on like a house on fire with so much in common.

I find the same with women. When I was single I couldn't get a sniff of skirt as if I was on my hands and knees in a Boxing Day sale in Primark.

Once I'm in a relationship and with kids, women throw themselves at me constantly. I am forever having to knock back my wifes friends & sisters and the ladies on CUK. Typical.

Well, they did pay quite well and there's a decent Italian restaurant nextdoor, so it wasn't all bad. Plus, I was there working under direction of a big French car manufacturer, so I had a few impressive freebie lunches in Paris at their expense while not having to answer to the internal management tossers.

Just two old chums chewing the fat. Get a friend then you can have a go. Wilmslow has plenty of vacancies I believe.

    It ain't just you.

In spring 2009 I was signed off sick and did a handover to my replacement so I could sit at home and be poorly. During the brief handover, I got 4 calls in a couple of days for 4 different yet perfect roles. In each case, I was the only person the agent found who fitted the spec. I turned them down as I wasn't fit to work.

A few weeks later I was better; I then spent 9 months on the bench.

    Feast & famine.

It's like being married: you spend years as a bachelor not getting any, then as soon as you're wearing a wedding ring you're beating off the totty with a stick.
