K750/w800/d750
For all intents and purposes the same phone just different packaging. Indeed whatever one you buy you can got to mobilefun.co.uk and for £20 buy the OEM kit to change one into the other, likewise you can unlock/flash the firmware for £10 to any of the others.
I went for the D750 in the end because I found the K model too ugly, and the W800 style amongst other things seemed to scream mug me.
As for a recommendation, well I still think it's one of the best phones on the market, the camera puts some dedicated ones to shame (the D600 doesn't compare), the music player sounds as good as one of those iPod nanos, and it offers a lot more besides, especially if you get a 1GB card like I did...
Downsides...well, it's the only phone I've ever had really crash on me...

I took delivery of an LG U880 this morning. Haven't used it yet but it seems decent to me. I particularly like the software on the LG phones.

Thanks everyone.
Looks like I will go for the D600 as no doubt I would manage to break the K750i "joystick" in about 5 minutes.

Have got the K750i.
What can I say?
Awesome camera and a erm...Awesome camera!
Battery life is OK, but its butt ugly, and the case creaks (all 750i's do this).
The D600?? No thanks, it's a samsung.

Come on, the Ericsson is sooooo ugly. You show it to a girl and she will smell "nerd" from miles away.
And afterall, a mobile should be a mobile... not a PC (although some of the features in the samsung are quite handy - like synchronising docs, mails, can do presentations with powerpoint....).

Don't worry about whether it says its free or not. Choose the one you want and them tell them that you want that, as another network has offered you that phone and a better tarrif.
Always works
p.s i'd choose the Samsung

"Tony - am I correct in saying the W800i is basically an orange sleeved K750i (with a bigger memory card and some walkman branding)? - if so it sounds like the rumours about the joystick are valid."
Yes - Thats the one. I'm glad its a common fault and that it is also supplied with a 2 year warranty as T-Mobile will be getting mine back quite soon. Does anybody have any links for the joystick problem?

Well I am on my third 700 in six months which is basically the same phone with less features.
The joystick stops working.

Quite often it seems to select what it wants. Which is really annoying when you are say scrolling through your contacts and it decides to call one instead of moving to the next name in the list etc.

The Samsung D600 and Sony Ericsson K750i seem to be the best models available to me on free upgrade.
I have read in a few forums that the K750i is the better all-round product although it alledgedly seems to have an issue with the "joystick" breaking very easily (which would be NFU to me as I am not exactly careful with my phones).
Do any of you own a D600 or K750i ? - any good or bad comments about either phone are much appreciated.
