The history of the Western Region diesel-hydraulic designs began in 1955 with the decision of the British Transport Commission (BTC) to update and improve the British railway system through the use of diesel traction as called for in the Modernisation Plan. At that time, just five diesel locomotives were in main-line operation.

Ah yes, DHL in WR in the 60's and seventies.
my Dad was 60 (or was it 70) when he showed me the secret of ripening green tomatos. He hated gren tomato chutney did my dad.
Put then on a window sill in the sunlight, any light green or orange patch, turn to touch a green spot on its neighbour
