I had that one. You could at one time hand them in over the counter, but that was too easy, so they made you post it somewhere instead.

I also had a big bell outside which was a couple of quid a quarter.

£55 seems about right. The line rental is about 12 quid per month. I recall that they raised the prices for line rental recently after they had to negotiate a pay rise with their employees.

55 - 36 = nowhere near 33p of calls, even when you factor in VAT.

They have got to generate income to pay the pensions. Every little helps.

1) To get Be I needed to have one. This may change soon.

2) I need a incoming line. I may not make many calls, but I receive quite a few, especially from abroad.

I got a notification that my BT bill is due so I go to their site to check it and it's roughly £55 for this quarter which is roughly what it normally is.

Then I think to myself, "When did I last make a call?" I check the statement and I've made two calls that have cost me a grand total of £0.33 FFS!

I don't remember what the one in July was about, but the one two weeks ago was to American Airlines and before I managed to get to speak to a person, I had managed to log in to their frequent flyer program and sort it out anyway.

I don't remember the last time I bought a top-up for the moblie. It has to be over three years ago.


I speak to people on the phone every day. I just do not make calls. All communications that I initiate are either e-mail or IM.

get an ip phone. 3 pounds per month for the line and payg for the calls.

Similar position here. The only times I make calls on the mobile are when I find myself late for a meeting due to traffic or train delays. I sacked the landline several years ago and haven't missed it one bit; in fact I'd only hung onto it for so long as a backup for broadband, my broadband turned out to be reliable so...
