In parts of Latin America these "Limpiabotas" just won't leave you alone. So much so that when I'm there I always make sure whatever I'm wearing on my feet isn't shoe-shineable.

There's one in Edinburgh airport, which I use often enough if I'm suited and booted. I like my shinny shoes when stepping into the office.Originally posted by Jog On View PostWould you sit and get your shoes shined at one of those stations while the general public walk past and gawp at how affluent you are?
Has anyone?

That sounds about right. In the corridor next to some swish, one dimensional, in-the-wall sandwich bar.Originally posted by Jog On View PostOn the way to the jubilee through the 'Citi' area?

That's the one that prompted me to make this thread!Originally posted by OrangeHopper View PostSaw one in Canary Wharf the other week in the shopping mall. Presumably you would have to pay a banker's bonus.
On the way to the jubilee through the 'Citi' area?

Is that really all you can think of doing with the combination Stanley knife and hedge fund manager?Originally posted by thunderlizard View PostI'm thinking of starting a similar service for hedge fund managers. For £7.50 I'll pluck little designer frays in their Ralph Lauren jeans with a Stanley knife.

Never used it for fear of looking like a right plonker.

It's a bit like having one of those massages in your suit at an airport or having your eyebrows threaded at Selfridges - a complete no-no.

I would be fully prepared to use one if I was
(a) feeling flush
(b) killing time (e.g. at an airport)
(c) wearing shineable but unshiny shoes.
Those three things have never happened to me at the same time.
