I must admit SQL is always been my weak point. Not simple queries, joins etc but I worked at a IB where I was asked to look after about 20 4000 odd line stored procs and just never took to it. Lack of formal training mostly which I have in non DB languages.

Why is it then that the 'bible' of SQL is the alarmingly titled 'An Introduction to Database Systems (vols 1 and 2)"? Hands up - I only got halfway through Vol 2Originally posted by xoggoth View PostHmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Of all the ITish things things I have ever done, I thought SQL was just about the easiest. One of the few areas where the "*** in 10 minutes" books got the timing about right.
What SQL needs is a fuzzy version, not what records match x,y,z but what records best match given importance and likely errors on x,y,z and then ordering according to closeness of match.
