I must admit SQL is always been my weak point. Not simple queries, joins etc but I worked at a IB where I was asked to look after about 20 4000 odd line stored procs and just never took to it. Lack of formal training mostly which I have in non DB languages.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Of all the ITish things things I have ever done, I thought SQL was just about the easiest. One of the few areas where the "*** in 10 minutes" books got the timing about right.

What SQL needs is a fuzzy version, not what records match x,y,z but what records best match given importance and likely errors on x,y,z and then ordering according to closeness of match.

Why is it then that the 'bible' of SQL is the alarmingly titled 'An Introduction to Database Systems (vols 1 and 2)"? Hands up - I only got halfway through Vol 2
