From the Guardian: Clay Shirky's comments on Paywall

f you are reading this article on a printed copy of the Guardian, what you have in your hand will, just 15 years from now, look as archaic as a Western Union telegram does today. In less than 50 years, according to Clay Shirky, it won't exist at all. The reason, he says, is very simple, and very obvious: if you are 25 or younger, you're probably already reading this on your computer screen. "And to put it in one bleak sentence, no medium has ever survived the indifference of 25-year-olds."

OTOH, there's something to be said for not living in "interesting times".

Would you rather see headlines like:

North Korean army massing on border
    Bat flu death toll soars
Large asteroid on collision course with Earth

    etc

Q1. In 2010, Lady Cole suffered a serious affliction whilst judging the UK's annual singing contest with Lord Cowell.
What affliction did she suffer and who ultimately went on to win the contest?

Q2. Lady GaGa - Original maverick or just a shallow copy of Queen Madonna?
Discuss. Additional marks will be awarded for drawings of her outfits.

    Q3. Frankie Goes to Hollywood
    Did he ever get there?

yep, and it is creeping increasingly into the papers. Pandering to the masses.

The times has dumbed down bigtime and I'd get the telegraph only for it's a bitch to read on the train every day

Perhaps I'm old fashioned, but I have no idea who John James or Josie are and nor do I want to, I don't give a flying left b*llock about Cheryl Cole, articles about law and order are in last place, the death of a young man fighting for our country warrants a middle ranking - probably because last nights Big Brother eviction is now very old news and they needed something to fill the space.

I'll stop now, but it does really annoy me.
Welcome to the old curmudgeons club. You will find that the world is no longer made with your requirements in mind, everything is done for the younger people.

If this is a major problem in your life, I'd suggest you're doing ok. FFS, some people have real problems.
