Watched MOTD on Saturday and the quality of defending in the Premiership is appalling. Best league in the world??!! The reason that the Premiership players were so crap in the world cup is because they are not used to playing against quality defence. England have played as badly before in a world cup but have always had a decent defence to muddle their way through. This time they had the sort of defence that befits the premiership and were taken apart. It sounds like Spurs were taken apart tonight for the same reasons. Rooney, Torres et al look good in the EPL but come the CL knockouts and internationals they won't have a clue - they have gone soft. For a successful team you need to build from the back, i.e. get the right keeper and defenders before wasting millions on midfield donkeys like Milner.
