Don't get out of the car for three days though. The static discharge will kill you. Or turn you invisible. Or give you some other super-power, I forget which.Originally posted by cnch View PostI know this is not in keeping with the general look and feel of this forum, but cars basically act as a Farraday cage which is definitely safe.

I know this is not in keeping with the general look and feel of this forum, but cars basically act as a Farraday cage which is definitely safe. You can of course go for death by ennui by watching football.Originally posted by Drewster View PostI think I'll stick to the hotel room - watching the footie....

If you're worried (ahhhh), find a car and sit in it until it passes - it is one of the safest places to be.Originally posted by Drewster View Post........ then again - I've never been in this sort of storm before!!!
There is a 'kin great electrical storm coming my way.....
Lightening flashes every 30 seconds...
Thunder following.... a bit later....
Really strong winds....
Trees bending....

I love those tropical storms. Been caught in a few. Once got hit by a flash storm while travelling on a glass sky tram over to Sentosa in Singapore. Lightening bounces off the cable cars and dancing all around.Originally posted by Drewster View Post........ then again - I've never been in this sort of storm before!!!

We were the last on, looked back to see that everyone else had been stopped. You could feel the heat of the electricity it was so close.
