    He played in the comedy tent at Glastonbury most years. Yes he was daft but totally original. Was the second most viewed article on the BBC website last night just behind the Budget but in front of the Jamie Bulger article.

    Maybe more of a local hero than a national one. I only saw him live once, and that was earlier this year. He was one the things that made the North West what it was and it was nice to have him around. I wasn't much of a fan but know lots of people who were.
