I just hate it when politicians attempt to put the lifetime cost of a project in the same context as the yearly deficit amount - although this article didn't do that explicitly.
How many times did we hear prior to the election (mostly from LibDembs) "The deficit is £160bn. We can save £100bn from scrapping trident." - neglecting to mention that trident is over 25 years, starting from 2020.

Can they not get a loan from a financial institution? Like a bank for example ? The govt is not there to hand out loans. If there is a proper business plan, any bank will lend the £80 million.

If there are this many financial skeletons falling out of cupboards this early, then there ought to be plenty of scope for saving a huge chunk of the deficit without having to impact anything useful.
Of course this might mean a fair number of non-jobs being axed and the associated "worker" being turfed out to try and find some gainful employment. But I think I'll survive that.

How do you spend so much on this. Considering a Sikorsky S-92 is about $15m, thats a lot of helicopters even when you factor in running costs (which the idiots in charge probably didn't). I hope the axe digs deeper.
