Been at Client Co for just over 2yrs, and just been given 4wks notice :-(

Recently changed team leaders and the new one has the man management skills of a gibbon on crystal meth.

Have been having a running battle with him for a few months, this week been off with a badly sprained ankle, and because I didn't ring in the day I went to the A&E, have been served 4wks notice.

Anybody had a similar incident? Any advice?

Want advice? Really? Try re reading your own post. The new team leader has skills 'of a gibbon on crystal meth,' and been having 'a running battle...... for a few months! And when absent 'didnt ring in.'

Notice anything? How about looking at your professionalism?

Well, imho, you've been a bit of a divvie looking to take on your 'boss.' So you've been at the client site 2 years more than him(?) and you thought the client would side with you because 'you knew better'?

And then, you didnt do what any professional person should do, let them know where you were and why you didnt come in?

To be honest, you sound as thick as you appear to be judging by this episode and, I suspect you've probably been rubbing the previous team leader up the wrong way for a long time.

My advice, look at yourself. Oh and start looking for another job!

I had the same thing happen to me, the site boss had a running battle with all the contractors after a few choice comments were made to the UK boss (it wasn't me) about what a lazy bastard he was.

Someones head was going to role and guess who got the chop... Even though it wasn't me who shopped him he had it in for me because I kept inadvertently exposing his lack of leadership simply by doing the job properly.

I'd have punched his flipin lights out if security clearance wasn't at stake.

I always ensure there is a likely scapegoat to take the fall if anything goes wrong.

but as a contractor you need to be able to get on with gibbons on crystal meth for as long as necessary.

necessary might be until the end of contract notice period or the end of recession but that's your business decision.

who knows - the next job might be populated with animals that will turn your current gibbon into a funky one by comparison.

you might say that not getting on with him is beyond limits but you need to think of them as your business limits not your personal ones.
