    I don't understand why he's waiting until the last possible minute to announce it.

    Granted - he doesn't want to announce it too early, but it's not like there's been any doubt regarding the date, so why not hop along to the palace and get it over with.

    I was just checking up on my incumbent MP's voting record on www.theyworkforyou.com - interesting....

    Voted very strongly for the Iraq war.
    Voted strongly for an investigation into the Iraq war.
    Voted moderately against Labour's anti-terrorism laws.

    Voted against removing hereditary peers from the House of Lords.
    Voted strongly for a wholly elected House of Lords.

    Voted a mixture of for and against introducing a smoking ban.

    Voted a mixture of for and against a transparent Parliament!!!

    I know you are on tentahooks but he can wait until next Monday at the latest to call an election on May 6th.

    Aren't we expecting an announcement today if it's to be on the 6th May as expected? Or is tomorrow when the announcement would be made? Wish they'd hurry it up so it's out of the way before summer holidays!
