If I was Gordon Brown I think I'd announce it for the week later for no other reason than to annoy all the people that are "certain" it's going to be May 6th.

It would also mean those who count ballots in London and other metropolitan areas will get a chance of getting 2 lots of overtime.

Granted - he doesn't want to announce it too early, but it's not like there's been any doubt regarding the date, so why not hop along to the palace and get it over with.

They'd never be able to hold a modern voter's attention for MONTHS. It's going to be a nightmare keeping anyone interested for a couple of weeks these days.

Aren't we expecting an announcement today if it's to be on the 6th May as expected? Or is tomorrow when the announcement would be made? Wish they'd hurry it up so it's out of the way before summer holidays!

I know you are on tentahooks but he can wait until next Monday at the latest to call an election on May 6th.
