    If 1 says nothing, 2 deduces 1 can see headphones of both colours. 2 sees 3 has red headphones, so concludes his is the opposite colour, and correctly shouts 'blue'.

    Agreed. The answer is 2 but 2's answer is dependent on what 3 is wearing and that could be red or blue.

    Anyway, I'm not here. For reasons I can't fathom, I have a dog, a chicken and a bag of corn and a 5lb chub to catch.

    Doesn't matter, does it? The point is that 1 says nothing, so 2 and 3 aren't the same colour. Thus 2 knows he is different to 3.

    3's got no f***ing chance either, has he.
