    Going in saying "I'm a bit rusty, I'm not sure if I'll remember everything" is a great way of not getting the gig.

    You can do that if you want but you would be certain not to get the gig.

    Put yourself in the consultancy's shoes. They have to deliver - why take the chance with someone who thinks that they might not be able to do the work?

    I would steer clear of any crap like that, it sounds weak and I would be looking for other options if I was offererd that.

    You can either do it or you can't.
    You think you can (albiet a bit rusty) so go for it guns blazing. After two weeks doing the actual task you'll look back and wonder why in gods name you even thought of giving them a get out.

    So, you havent done a particular specialist part of your role for 18months.

    Working through recruitment consultant X for consultancy Y which in the end will be delivering for Client Z.

    So if you havent done this type of work for 18months or so and feeling a bit rusty on that application. Naturally consultancy Y wants to deliver to the client but you feel you may not be upto scratch at the moment.
