Yes, but the original point by SAs and my subsequent support is about the possibility that mankind will evolve enough to reach a higher state of society and that society will be communist (or closely aligned).
Both of us pointed out that mankind has to evolve first.
If that evolution happens do you still say communism will not work?
A couple of thoughts:
As stated I can't predict where humankind will evolve to. Future predictions of this kind are too hard.
For instance: Imagine that our environmental resources change in terms of availability. Say the sea levels rise in 20 years by 1.5 meters due to global warming. About 10% of the population of the world will be displaced. About 40% of the worlds food production will be removed.
Given this scenario do you seriously believe that humankind will adopt a communist model? Isn't this highly unlikely?
However other scenarios may prove condusive to a more communal model.
I know where I would place my euro considering the history of humankind and considering that in over 100,000 years of sentience we don't seem to have evolved as a species in social terms one iota.
I agree that we are sentient (on the whole) but let's not forget that we are animals first and foremost. We follow our instincts in just the same way as a Mollusc follows theirs and this is genetic and incredibly powerful.
We are changing socially far more quickly (and often this is through technology) than we can evolve either genetically or socially.
I don't think that we can predict where we will evolve to as a species.
Blind watchmaker is a term which applies equally well to our social evolution

The thing is that the human race is sentient. We are self aware and that makes us capable of working outside our pre programmed nature.
It is entirely possible that we will achieve a higher state of society. If we ever do then that society will be a lot more likely to be communist than any other model.

It's only the actual bad guys that think of us as the bad guys though.
I've been surprised when working in Europe how much the British are actually liked. We've kind of been fed this endless image of ourselves as football hooligans, binge drinkers, single teenage mums, xenophobic immigrant bashers... but most the forrins what I have spoken with don't seem to have that perception at all. They think we're really nice and they want to come here on their holidays. The fools.
The level of accomplishment and expertise on CUK never ceases to amaze me.
The most unlikely people turn out to be fully qualified and expert social biologists
Shame they have to make a living in IT.
Actually I have a PhD in Biology.
But I have a masters in Computer System Design as well.
It is part of our genotypic make-up to accrue resources. We are not a collective (such as Ants and Bees) we are altruistic. We gain resource we attract the opposite sex, we procreate we die.
Where does communism fit into that model.
I put it to you that it does not, and therefore the model will never work
I did say that.

You are misinterpretting Communism in its truest sense. What has been inflicted by the regimes you mention is a different matter.
If Communism was about the entire race working for the benefit of the entire race then it would be the perfect model. It can not exist while we have a materialistic attitude.

Well excuse me, but are you the same chap who is constantly harping on about money and possessions and is working for a bank!!!!!!!!!
Do me a favour.
And with regards to communism, just a simple thought from this simpleton.
Communism hasn't worked out too well thus far, unless you believe working out is
Being run over by a 50 tonne tank (China)
Starved (Korea)
Installed in a frozen wasteland (Russia)
