Well, that's what I usually do. And it's tulip. I just wish I was the sort of person who call's other people's bluff.

Not sure.... What 'climate' are we talking about here? I had plenty of interest in my flat. The buyers made their offer just after it went on the market, effectively giving them a ten week reservation on my property during the conveyancing, with only the minimal commitment of a cheap survey. During that time I'm confident I could have found an alternate buyer.Originally posted by Board Game Geek View PostGrats !
Although in this climate, you cannot really blame them for trying can you ? I'm sure you'd do the same in their position, and even if you wouldn't, a hell of a lot of others would, so just accept that it's part and parcel of a buyer's market and move on.

I've got good news for the congregation....
Told the buyers to get lost with their sneaky gazundering attempt, and they came back and offered the full original price. Exchanged contracts today!

The lesson here is: don't mess with cats
PS: Thanks for all the advice!

So, you are obviously the big d1ck. The men on the side of ya are your balls. Now there are two types of balls. There are big brave balls, and there are little mincey faggot balls.
<Snatch>
Be sure to tell us if you are the mincey faggoty type and allow yourself to be gazundered.

Good point. Swampette was there for the viewings and not I, so I had no chance to get a feel for the buyer, but I understand they were keen.Originally posted by thelace View PostThink back to when they came to view...
If it was a flybynight type, he's trying it on and may decide to walk.
If is was a couple or family and the wife "really" liked it, then they're trying it on but won't walk.... Just say no!
Regardless of this, I am in a position (as a contractor
) to be able to afford to take the chance they are bluffing. The buyers have spent money on a survey which they won't get back. They have probably spent money on solicitors they won't get back. We shall see...
I hope to keep this thread updated of future developments!

In which case they don't really have any balls. Call them on it.Originally posted by swamp View PostIt's a small drop they are asking for
And they can find a small amount anyway.
Tell them that.Originally posted by swamp View PostWe are really keen to move but on the other hand I'm on a mega cheap tracker mortgage so staying put saves us lots of money.
Didn't realise it was that early in the process. Are they just reacting to a negative survey? (As all surveys have to be to prove their worth.)Originally posted by swamp View PostWas supposed to exchange contracts this week so the only money they have spent is the survey,
It hasn't changed; there never was any. I had it tried on me in 1987 and it was an established practice then.Originally posted by swamp View Postbut that is the English property system. No honour left these days.

It's a small drop they are asking for, but I'm minded to tell them to do one. We are really keen to move but on the other hand I'm on a mega cheap tracker mortgage so staying put saves us lots of money.
