    Sounds an excellent tradition. That is the prob with us Brits, we don't have nearly enough completely pointless rituals these days. I am going to start Waspy Sunday when everyone has to put jam out for wasps as a symbol of our ties with nature.

    How do you catch them?

    I find that when you creep up to where they are making a noise they go quiet, and then start up again ten feet away.
