Really? So in this situation how else should the unarmed copper (as appears the case) have acted? Seems like a sensible response to me.

Meh. That's the bar in the Young Vic (Obvious duly stated). Named The Cut, promoted as such within the Young Vic, not from outside. T'locals round ere don't refer to it as such, and the shooting happened outside the tube station. It's more plausible to me that the Beeb made a stuff-up, as per.Originally posted by NickFitz View Post

The Cut is not a bar - it's a street. The shots were outside Southwark Station and the man ran down The Cut to escape. He was on a bicycle, police recognised him, and he pulled a gun out and shot at the officers.

BBC news ticker said a policeman had suffered a cut cheek.
Probably sustained when he "dived for cover"

My feelings exactly.Funny how the police are so tough when confronted with unarmed individuals (or those carrying chair legs) but when a real gunman shows up they all chicken out. Classic. Wouldn't be surprised if the clowns shot each other.

All gone quiet - road still sealed off, dog units (perhaps 10 dogs) being prepped outside.
It's all over twitter at #Southwark

UR sure.Originally posted by realityhack View PostNo kidding. Everyone is locked in the building, the whole road cordened off, armed police everywhere.
Apparently some nutter fired upon a couple of police officers. Looks like half the City of London police are outside. Helicopter overhead. One of the police snipers requested access to clientco's roof.
By Southwark station - checking the Beeb for coverage now.
