Really its true I don't know where you got that idea from maybe they don't when they go down south.

Have to say I've been sadly disappointed but as England is a normally Conservative voting nation I can understand the apprehension with something constitutionally radical. That said the present system is untenable in the longer term and will need reform whatever happens.

The Senate would do everything that the national parliaments did not wish to do foreign affairs defence etc. The English Parliament, which adjourned on 25 March 1707, is hereby reconvened..................

Or have you no idea of how the rest of the world would look upon a new nationalism in England?

Bliar's government has taken us too far down the path toward Ingsoc as it is. What you are proposing is utterly, utterly, unacceptable.

A solitary England, standing alone, would be a terrifying prospect to many nations of the world, based upon their own historical evidence.

England is a belligerent, traditionally feudal, secular nation made up of warlike tribes but with no common identity other than pride in war.

It is only the very careful application of government, the presence of Wales and the Union with Scotland that dilutes the English supremacy-mentality sufficiently to keep us at home and peaceful.

A stand-alone England would be even more dangerous than a united Ireland.

England must never again be given its own government.

Just as Germany or Japan should never be allowed to re-arm.

We're too easy to organise, to provoke and to send to our deaths on futile missions of glory.
Thanks....that was quite funny. I thought you were being serious until the "A solitary England, standing alone, would be a terrifying prospect to many nations of the world" bit

Considering we can't even build a football stadium without screwing it up in biblical fashion, I doubt very much that the rest of the world would quake in their boots. More likely they would just laugh at us. As usual.

I didn't want to say that myself, but I have heard rampant Scottish nationalists say that the Union with England was a Good Thing. Why? Because it was the only way we could stop their violence against us.

I'll say one thing to those who think I'm exaggerating: how nice do you see England behaving about it, if Scotland demands and obtains independence? I see bloodshed myself, and strenuous attempts to **** up Scotland out of spite. Hand on heart, tell me you don't see that? Tell me that you don't want it, even??
