Never get involved in domestics. You are lucky she did not beat you up.

Aggro on the streets of Manchester
Got into a bit of a barney yesterday.
The sister of a famous Everton and England player runs a pub near me, I go in there now and then but never let on that I knew who she was, she keeps it quiet.
I was on the way back home yesterday with the paper, noon-ish and she is in front of me pushing a buggy with a kid in it, stopping, starting and obviously having a row with some guy she was with. Both about my age, mid 50's.
She reached for a mobile, he made a move, she puts the mobile away. So I walks past them, then the voices raised. She turned back, so now she is following me. She lets out a squeal, so I turns around and ask if everything is ok, she bursts into tears so I gets between her and the guy. He tries to put his arm around my shoulder so I give him a hard shove with the heel of my palm to his breast bone. He beats a hasty.
I walked her back to the pub, she was straight on the mobile to the fuzz, apparently they have been out seven times already, the guy is an ex-partner.
I'm too old for this malarky
