Pah, the 9-5 FPT/Aero is not exactly unresponsive. The latest diesel (1.9 one that alfa use as well) is pretty good too, plus the later versions handle a lot better.
Still, I'd go for the XJ - second cars are sooooo cheap in Britain - another NL miracle surely

Personally, I don't thinks there's much to distinguish it from any of the others on the market as they are all designed around the same criteria - fit 4 adults, an engine & some golf clubs and have a low drag number.
Clarkson said that compared to the competition it looked like "Angelina Jolie in a Wakefield bus queue". I tend to agree.
