I have never understood why people fall for the myth that German cars are rock solid when the data always shows that they are mid-range for reliabilty(Jap brands top the list).
It's great marketing from the Germans to play on perceived quality and some idiots lap it up.
Of course if you are more concerned about image then by all means buy German and pay regularly through the nose for servicing and spare parts when the inevitable problems occur
    Hard Brexit now!

Actually sas, when you buy a premium brand such as BMW new, you get 5 years servicing for a fixed price of £995.

But you wouldn't know anything about that would you?

Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

I earn back the 33% the moment I turn right again.

Virtually every manufacturer (even Hyundai) does some sort of similar deal, but I'm sure you've been brainwashed into thinking BMW is somehow special.
Point is if you're out of warranty, BMWs will go wrong more often and cost more than a similar Jap model (and I actually think cars like the Accord are better in all respects (except maybe for purist driving dynamics) - build quality, price, reliability, you name it).
