and in what sense does that make it right then? To criticise us for claiming that our expenses were tax avoidance while they were doing it to the nth degree is very hypocritical

No I wouldn't, and what's more, many MPs haven't. Those people who say "you'd have done the same" are like a sad alcohlic trying to get people to have a drink with him
