I am taking my pension early instead of applying for means-tested benefits so I am quite easily on a higher moral and ethical level than many grasping MPs who should be resigning in droves.

It's like those sad permies who put their jobs at risk by fiddling £10 of expenses.

and in what sense does that make it right then? To criticise us for claiming that our expenses were tax avoidance while they were doing it to the nth degree is very hypocritical

No I wouldn't, and what's more, many MPs haven't. Those people who say "you'd have done the same" are like a sad alcohlic trying to get people to have a drink with him

I'd have taken millions - not a few pawltry thousand. These MPs are petty in their thefts from the public purse. They've such small minds.

My first job, the boss told me there's only two basic rules....

    1) If I ask you to do something, it needs to be done but isn't that important, however if I TELL you to do something....

    2) Don't falsify your expenses. It's instant dismissal and there's nothing I can do to back you up

    Both sensible in my opinion

As Francis Urquhart might have said, "You may think so, but I couldn't possibly comment."
