Word of warning - the food in India is generally dire. Apart from Goa and Kerela where you can get lots of nice Seafood in curries which have a sinilar flavour to Thai food with Coconut etc.
The North of India the food is literally cooked to a mush, with no nutrients left in it. I was there for 2 months, didnt get ill once, as I cleaned my hands regularly with travel handwash, but still lost 2.5 stone!!! Couldnt do a single press-up when I was there or for 2 weeks after I got back.
If you like good Indian Food, Malaysia is the place to go!!

BA is a great city. However don't forget that July - Sept is winter over there. You wouldn't want to be popping down to Tierra Del Fuego in winter.Originally posted by Pickle2 View PostSouth america would be great though. I've always fancied BA for steak, red wine, tango, football etc.

We did 2 weeks travelling in Kerala. Lunch and snacks all purchased from street vendors. Used similar rules to Chef.Originally posted by themistry View PostAs a British Indian who has travelled lots of Asia and who also follows your food mantra, I dare you to try it in india and return alive.
Good luck... it really is that bad

if you want food hygeine standards, goto a fully westernised country or stay in a 5 star hotel, either that or do what countless others do and take obvious precautions:

Just take Sal then, problem solvedOriginally posted by chef View Postthis is turning into Sal's Agony Aunt Page
i'd happily take friend, however, she's more of a hairdryer / poolside / cocktail / sunbathing kinda gal and the closest she's ever got to proper backpacking was Glastonbury..
plus that solution would almost certainly kill off new gf chef relationship
and I dont think her ex-army bloke would be too happy with that idea

On a serious note, if I was single, chef WOULD be getting it...so I suppose I have the same mindset as the lady emailer

Don't go telling him that now
