Word of warning - the food in India is generally dire. Apart from Goa and Kerela where you can get lots of nice Seafood in curries which have a sinilar flavour to Thai food with Coconut etc.

The North of India the food is literally cooked to a mush, with no nutrients left in it. I was there for 2 months, didnt get ill once, as I cleaned my hands regularly with travel handwash, but still lost 2.5 stone!!! Couldnt do a single press-up when I was there or for 2 weeks after I got back.

If you like good Indian Food, Malaysia is the place to go!!

BA is a great city. However don't forget that July - Sept is winter over there. You wouldn't want to be popping down to Tierra Del Fuego in winter.

We did 2 weeks travelling in Kerala. Lunch and snacks all purchased from street vendors. Used similar rules to Chef.

if you want food hygeine standards, goto a fully westernised country or stay in a 5 star hotel, either that or do what countless others do and take obvious precautions:

i'd happily take friend, however, she's more of a hairdryer / poolside / cocktail / sunbathing kinda gal and the closest she's ever got to proper backpacking was Glastonbury..

plus that solution would almost certainly kill off new gf chef relationship and I dont think her ex-army bloke would be too happy with that idea
Just take Sal then, problem solved
