I can do beer or no sleep and still function in the morning. Not both.

I love sleep and do it on a daily basis - like eating I like that also.

I wish I'd got more sleep last night instead of going out and getting drunk. I feel rotten now. Too little sleep and too much alcohol. I'm really looking forward to the flight home!

    I need my sleep!!

With 2 kids under 3 and a 1.5-2 hour commute to my current gig, I dont get much in the way of sleep!! I stay localy a couple of nights a week but that's when I catch up on Myco Stuff!!

Still better than on the bench. Been there. Done that. Worn the T-shirt for too long!

Now the world has gone to bed
    Darkness won't engulf my head
    I can see by infra-red
    How I hate the night.

If I've been drinking I need ~8 hours. Otherwise 6 hours is do-able, 7 hours is fine.

Pogle, when your friend invited to his hotel and asked "do you want to sleep with me?", he did NOT actually mean that he wanted to "sleep" with you.

Now I lay me down not to sleep
I just get tangled in the sheets
I swim in sweat three inches deep
I just lay back and claim defeat

    Chapter read and lesson learned
I turned the lights off while she burned
So while she's three hundred degrees
I throw the sheets off and I freeze

    Lids down, I count sheep
    I count heartbeats
The only thing that counts is
    that I won't sleep
    I countdown, I look around

    Who needs sleep?
(well you're never gonna get it)
    Who needs sleep?
    (tell me what's that for)
    Who needs sleep?
(be happy with what you're getting
    There's a guy who's been awake
    since the Second World War)

    Who needs sleep?
(well you're never gonna get it)
    Who needs sleep?
    (tell me what's that for)
    Who needs sleep?
(be happy with what you're getting
    There's a guy who's been awake
    since the Second World War)

My hands are locked up tight in fists
My mind is racing filled with lists
of things to do and things I've done
    Another sleepless night's begun

    Lids down, I count sheep
    I count heartbeats

There's so much joy in life,
    so many pleasures all around
    But the pleasure of insomnia
    is one I've never found
With all life has to offer,
There's so much to be enjoyed
    But the pleasures of insomnia
    are ones I can't avoid

    Lids down, I count sheep

Plenty of time to sleep when you're dead

We're only here for a limited number of years. Spending 35% of that time unconscious seems a terrible waste of it.

I can consistently make do with 6-7 hours without any ill effects.

Like many things - it's quality not quantity that counts. Give me 5 hours uninterrupted over 8 hours of being woken up by kids every hour anytime.

I can manage on 6 1/2 hours during the week but need to catch up at weekends. I can go down to 4-5 hours for one night only but any more than that and my work suffers and I need to eat loads of sugar to keep going. Normally I get to bed around 23.00 Mon-Fri and up at 05:30. Weekends if I get at least one lie in for 8-9 hours I'm fine for the next week. Age has a lot to do with it (I'm 40+).

I'm a lot more effective at work on 7½ hours, but as I'm not at work I can cope with 6 hours ongoing...

About 5-6hrs has been my snooze time for the last 7 years a pattern I fell into when our daughter was born. Nowadays it's to bed at about midnight, watch a bit of cack TV for a bit until unconcious and then automatically wake up at 5:30/6.

IMO it's not a problem because I don't feel any worse for it, but if opening one eye and reaching for the laptop to post on CUK I think I would seek professional help
